Ground data terminals (GDTs) provide a secure and reliable way to transmit data and distribute power between ground forces and other elements of the military, such as air assets and command and control centers. GDTs are mainly used for sharing real-time situational awareness data and transmitting orders and commands from ground commanders to air assets and other forces. This allows for rapid and coordinated decision-making, which can be essential in a fast-moving battle.
The GDT is required to support a wide range of networking and communication protocols to enable all relevant active entities on the battlefield to be interconnected and synchronized in real time. In addition, a power distribution solution is required for all the devices connected to or at the location of the GDT; data terminals, antennas, base stations, computers, and radio.

As Milpower develops both power and networking solutions under the same roof, we were able to take the GDT concept one step forward by combining both GDT and power requirements into a single device. Enercon GDT solutions will provide the networking protocols; Ethernet, Serial protocols, MCU RS232/422/485, and the AC and DC power requirements all in a single case.

As each of these solutions is and will be a custom-made device, Milpower's engineering teams are able to tailor the configuration according to each customer’s specifications. Among the customization options we offer:
• AC and DC redundant power inputs
• Fiber optic links for connecting remote devices
• Internal router (can be a Cisco router)
• Combining power and data lines on single connectors for size and cost reduction
• Enhanced cooling method for outdoor operation with full exposure to Solar radiation

The use of ground data terminals is growing rapidly. This is due to the increasing popularity of UAVs and the growing demand for reliable and secure communications links.
GDTs are an essential part of the UAV ecosystem. They provide the communications link that allows UAVs to be controlled, monitored, and used to collect data. GDTs can come in a variety of sizes and configurations, depending on the specific needs of the application and can be used in a wide variety of industries, including commercial and civilian in addition to military.

Collaborating with Milpower, a firm with power and networking design capability, will enable you to achieve complete tailor-made solutions that will cover all your system requirements in a single box, with mitigated risks and reduced schedules.GDT 3433 Image
